HWW Bassenthwaite Lake Railway Station Cumbria 20th June 2008

The remains of the station building at Bassenthwaite Lake on the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway.

The station opened in 1865 and was closed by British Railways in 1966 along with the entire line west from Keswick. It has since been totally renovated and reopened as a Café and Special Events Venue. In 2019 a replica French-style steam locomotive with Wagons-Lits carriages used in the 2017 film of Murder on the Orient Express were installed on the site as part of a tourist development.

HWW to everyone. Enjoy the day.
