Monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana)

A photograph of a branch with leaves of this unusual tree.

Native to Argentina and Chile, the leaves of this tree are sharp, triangular and scale-like and cover most of the branches. The tree can live to be more than 1,000 years old and does not produce seeds until it is at least 30 years old. It can grow up to 130 feet tall.

We also have them here, imported by the discoverers some centuries ago, but mostly Araucaria heterophylla.
Love the beauty of your photo.
