Yes, there is a small houseboat community in San Francisco.

This photo was taken by a Kowa Super 66 medium format film camera with a Kowa 1:2.8/85mm lens and Zenza Bronica 67mm SY44•2C(Y1) filter using Kodak TRI-X 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.
