:) It´s a strange tradition in Guatemala (not in the neighbouring countries, for instance), They burn the devil and also old stuff, people want to get rid of. Usually in many Latin American countries this is done at the change of the year with a filled ragdoll representing the old year, but in Guatemala it´s by this time of the year, (7.Dec) six o´clock p.m. with a devil made of papier mache.

Tradition involving fire is all over but this one is interesting,here is common on carnival to set puppet on fire and then mob is cheering and on easter morning/night people gather on hills set big piles of pine trees and other wood then set on fire. (get drunk actually)
