Visiting caterpillar

During rain yesterday, I was surprised when looking outside to see this hairy caterpillar wandering past.. I took several shots, but it would not cooperate by stopping its travels. I couldn't identify it, but a friend who is an insect expert is fairly sure it is the caterpillar of an Anthelid moth, Anthela acuta. It was about 7cm long. See also PiPs.

I'm wary of hairy caterpillars, some can cause bad skin reactions like burns.
