It's Jacaranda time

Native to Brazil, but very popular in Australia, the Jacaranda trees (Jacaranda mimosifolia) put on an excellent flowering in spring to early summer. They are earlier in more tropical climates, but are in full flower here at present.

The shape of each flower resembles antirrhinums, and I see that the species name refers to the leaves which do look like those of mimosa. A gorgeous splash of colour, George.
