The Grevillea

Australia has an extensive genus of plants known as Grevilleas. I think all have complex flowers - see the PiP for a closer view. This one is on a bush which has been flowering for several months in our garden.

Thank you very much, Jaap. Yes, I agree the PiP is more photographically interesting, but I used the full image as the main shot to provide some context.

Very exotic, .George. Are you suffering from the heatwave where you are?

tiabunna replied to Amelia:

Thanks, Amelia. Yes, most of Australia has had it, but being at the beach we've been spared the worst. Tomorrow and several days later this week in the 30s, but out inland it's into the high 40s.

tiabunna replied to Gudrun:

Many thanks, Gudrun. I should have explained that the PiP is not another image, just a larger crop from the main shot.

GORGEOUS images, George!! What a stunning flower. Complex is right. I discovered this flower a few years ago when appreciating some pictures by another photographer. I was so captivated by the incredible flowers that I wanted to see if they could grow here. Yes...and no! I found out there are many species and the care for these plants runs from easy to difficult and can be grown in cold to hot. So much variety. This one you photographed is just beautiful. Nice details and perfectly presented as well. :)

Re: our heavy rain...it would be my pleasure to send some water your way. I am so worried about Australia's drought. It's extremely troubling. :( :*(

By the way, a few years ago Steve and I went on a garden tour about 30 miles from our home and I discovered a Grevillea species at one garden...I went hog-wild! :D Here is my picture!
