More letterboxes

In case my previous shot of our old letterbox seemed unusual, it's worth mentioning that rural letterboxes in Australia come in a huge diversity of styles - here are some more. I'd suggest best on black.

Some can be either quite lavish or unusual - so, yes, I'd say there's an element of that.

Not usually, Bev, but it's common if visiting friends to check their box and take in any mail. :-)

For rural boxes here, almost anything is allowed provided the slot for depositing mail is within certain height limits (so it can be reached through a vehicle window).
