260/365: "If you're quiet, you're not living. You've got to be noisy and colorful and lively." ~ Mel Brooks

2 more pictures and 1 note above! :)

A couple of days ago my Picture of the Day was a lovely tiny cluster of white Alyssum blossoms. I mentioned that there was a purple cluster too that I hoped to take pictures of as long as they hadn't been devoured by insects. This purple one has two tiny purple "bouquets". Nature's florist seems to be at work here, arranging purple and white blossoms in each little "bouquet"! So beautiful!!

Mel Brooks (born Melvin James Kaminsky; June 28, 1926) is an American film director, screenwriter, composer, lyricist, comedian, actor and producer. He is best known as a creator of broad film farces and comic parodies. He began his career as a stand-up comic and as a writer for the early TV variety show Your Show of Shows. He became well known as part of the comedy duo with Carl Reiner, The 2000 Year Old Man. In middle age he became one of the most successful film directors of the 1970s, with many of his films being among the top ten money makers of the year that they were released. His most well known films include The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part I, Spaceballs and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. More recently he has had a smash hit on Broadway with the musical adaptation of his first film, The Producers. He was married to the actress Anne Bancroft from 1964 until her death in 2005. Beautiful work, Janet and no, I didn't know that purple alyssum reverts to white. So I've learnt something today!
My computer has died so I won't be posting for a few days until the new one has been delivered and I've got it set up. Having to do everything on the iPad is a pain!

Wow, thanks for the info about Alyssum losing the purple after a couple of germinating seasons. I often wondered why the returning Alyssum in my garden was always white. I just assumed the seeds for white Alyssum was more hardy than the seeds for the purple, LOL! I have also found that pansies will revert to a smaller purple/white flower after a generation or two, no matter what color the original plants were. Your photo is beautiful!
