Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: A PAIR OF PICTURES (two photos related in some way) for November 17 - November 23, 2025.
On our dead end street we had a club run by one of the older girls who lived next door to us. She was very organizational and didn’t take any fooling around!
I’m crowning my friend Linda as May Queen in the top rehearsal photo and on the left in the bottom one. I had been the queen the year before and was quite put out that I didn’t have a floor length dress then, so why did Linda now?!
My brother is the King. Love his dirty knees (part of a sailor dress up we owned.) Our neighbor, Tony, is also wearing something from the dress up box. I have my party dress on. My mother had hung up the washing but had taken it down by the actual May Day.
It must have been a late spring - the trees still look pretty bare. It’s 1963.

Very cute photos, Deborah, and perfectly representative of the theme. Very reminiscent of my sister's dramatic collaborations with friends. My friends and I devised games that were some form of baseball that we could squeeze into the backyard.

The entire royal family! What wonderful keepsakes. Was your mother the photographer? I don't recognize her in the audience.

Hi Rick - I’m pretty sure the photographer was Lil Cox - mother of Pauline who ran the club. My mother was next door looking out our kitchen window!
