Karl Oberhoffer (1811-1885); Austrian baritone.
He started his career at the “Wiener Hofoper” where he was only allowed to sing comprimario roles. He left Vienna in 1837 and was engaged at the “Deutsches Theater” in Budapest until 1839. From 1839/41 he was at the Königstädtischen Theater Berlin, where he performed together with the famous primadonna Henriette Sontag. From 1841-1876 he was engaged at the “Hoftheater von Karlsruhe”. After his retirement as a singer he remained at Karlsruhe as dressing room inspector and costume designer. He was one of the most important oratorio singers of his time.
