Marie Deetz by Siebe
Marie Deetz, born Marie Brandt (1835-1893); German soprano.
In 1856 she made her debut at the “Hoftheater von Hannover” as Agathe in “Der Freischütz”. From 1856/59 she was engaged at the “Hoftheater von Mannheim” and from 1859/61 to the “Hoftheater von Karlsruhe”. In the following years (1861/69) she was engaged at Wiesbaden, Rotterdam, Leipzig, Darmstadt and Hannover. Ïn 1865 she performed the role of Elisabeth in the first Dutch performance of Wagner’s “Tannhauser” in Amsterdam. Until 1876 she made guest appearances at the leading German opera houses.
