Ernestina Gindele (1841-?); Austrian mezzo-soprano.
In 1863 she made her debut at the “Theater von Pressburg” in Bratislava and in 1864 she was engaged at the “Hoftheater von Braunschweig”. After a successful guest appearance at the “Wiener Hofoper” she was engaged at Vienna in 1867 and remained there until 1875. From 1876 on she only made guest appearances; in 1876 at Covent Garden as Amneris in “Aïda”. Her most memorable rôles were Azucena in “Il Trovatore”, Ulrica in “Ballo in maschera”, Orsini in “Lucrezia Borgia”, Pierotto in “Linda di Chamounix” and Frau Reich in “Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor”.
