Spring Picture Window

Saturday Self-Challenge: Take a picture of a permanent architectural detail INSIDE your home (apartment or house).

This was a very tough challenge for me since there is nothing of note with the inside of my home. For most of the week I was going to use the cutout in the wall bordering my kitchen and living room, but lighting was a problem. This morning presented a better opportunity when I saw the light filtering through the picture window in my living room. It made for a far more interesting image. I wound up using my phone camera as it captured the scene so much better than my regular camera (my apologies to the camera purists).

Have a good weekend, my friends! Hugggs to Pam!

It's a nice window with a beautiful view, Val! You should look at the notes on some of my pictures and alternates for the challenge this week. My house was poorly designed and it's always dark inside, even during the middle of a bright day. I just used some really long 30/40 second exposures for most of my shots to make sure the things I photographed got enough light. I took most of my pictures at night because at daytime, it doesn't really help by adding much more light. I used available light for all these shots. It's amazing what you can do with a long enough exposure and a tripod. I never know if I get the color right, so that's why I shoot in black and white most of the time.

Edit to add:
If a person is going to take challenging pictures, they need a camera that can handle all the extreme challenges and be flexible.

You've really come up with a winner for this difficult challenge, Val. I just love how the shrub color echos your window treatment and your exposure is nice too. It's not easy to get that right as I found out with my photo too. :))
