Great Crested Grebe / Fuut (Podiceps cristatus)

Stumbled upon this family yesterday. They're actually old friends of mine as I followed them a few years ago. I think they still know who I am as they were very comfortable with me being very close. Usually these Grebes are very skittish and will run if you even look at them! :)

I'm also using them for this weeks POTN: World Wide Photo Week theme, which is "look what I found."

Beautiful shot Levina with the reflection and rippling water. And the wee one poking out is the icing on the cake. Where has the other chick gone?

Levina de Ruijter replied to Jim Boynton:

The other chick is somewhere in there, underneath the feathers. There could even be a third one there that never surfaced while I was there. :) You wouldn't think it but there seems to be plenty of room on a Grebe's back! :)
Thanks very much, Jim. Glad you like the shot.
