Both photos were taken with Motorola® Android Smart Phone 50 MP Quad Pixel camera. They were digitally enhanced using ChatGPT (OpenAI) and therefore by they are not AI/KI generated and do not need such a designation.

For the record, an AI-Generated image by definition is an "image built entirely out of math and training data from a blank canvas or a text prompt. ...a camera was never involved."

In addition, Adobe Photoshop and almost every major digital editing program now uses AI/KI that can multiply resolution, improve lighting and contrast, and sharpen in the same exact was as ChatGPT (OpenAI) and rarely is any reference made to these programs.

To require reference to one and not the other is inconsistent. Likewise, if one considers an AI-enhanced image to be AI generated, which it is not, then one would also have to consider an image enhanced by Photoshop to be Photoshop-generated, which it is not.

In any event, the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), an international organization that addresses photography and technology came up with the same conclusion: An AI-generated image applies "only when the core image was completely created by an AI engine. An AI-Enhanced Photo by definition is "when a real photo was edited, upscaled, or retouched using an AI tool.

In short no AI/KI label is necessary. :)

And here comes artificial intelligence, doesn’t it?

This is a profound technological development that has a great and positive impact on photography. Now photographers need only concern themselves with capturing the moment since everything else -- focus, clarity, resolution, lighting, and contrast -- can be taken care of at the back end. Now photographers don't have to worry about investing tons of money into equipment and enormous set up times that could lead to missing a potentially great shot.

With AI enhancement, the field has been leveled. Everyone who has a passion for photography can attain the same level those who work for organizations specializing in photography such as National Geographic.

To show how AI can help convert ordinary or even sub-par shots into great images I've included the original shots I took with my smart phone's camera:



Yes they're my photos and not AI generated images. Similar to the advent of digital photography and then the use of smart phone cameras, resistance towards AI enhancement that is no different than Photoshop enhancement that also uses AI, will eventually give way.
