Finnish Hall

Historic building near the pier in Astoria, Oregon. There were many immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily due to the lumber industry.

This building survived the construction of the huge bridge over the Columbia River.

An impressive bridge !

Robert Swanson replied to Pat Del:

This is only the approach from the Oregon side. The bridge spans the Columbia River here, near the main mouth of the river. Very impressive engineering work.

HBM & Best wishes

A rare plae for a bridge over the building...! May be they had no option...

Robert Swanson replied to Dinesh:

I have seen many freeway bridges soaring over existing buildings. In this case, what you see is only the APPROACH ramp to the bridge. The designers were faced with a small town built on a steep hill; the bridge had to fly over the town before it even spans over the river mouth area.
