This amazing plant just appeared one year and each year since has given me so many flowers that last for months.

Jenny McIntyre replied to Maeluk:

I know Steve but I had a retired Parks Superintendent doing my garden and he told me what it was. I know it's called a Lysesteria Formosa, or Himalayan Honeysuckle.

Nice, but as Steve mentions. However you are right Jenny.
Did you Know Honeysuckle berries taste like burnt sugar? - Leycesteria formosa
Leycesteria formosa (Himalayan Honeysuckle, Flowering Nutmeg, Himalaya Nutmeg or Pheasant Berry) is a deciduous shrub in the family Caprifoliaceae, native to the Himalaya and southwestern China. It is considered a noxious invasive species in Australia, New Zealand, the neighboring islands of Macaronesia.

Jenny McIntyre replied to Stormlizard:

Thanks for this information John. No I wasn't aware that you could eat the berries, although I don't think I've seen any berries on my plants. I remember sucking the nectar out from the flowers of our own honeysuckle.

Jenny McIntyre replied to Pam J:

Thanks Pam. I hope you are getting better slowly. Your body has had a helleva shock and it'll take time for it to reinvent itself! Don't despair if certain things don't come back, it's a small payment for being alive. I got so despondent when I realised my eyesight in my right eye was crooked and my balance had gone. I've managed to accept this and found ways around them. Also don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Big huggggs to you xxxxx

Oh my, isn't this beautiful, Jenny! I love honeysuckle and imagine my surprise when I found that it actually grows on our property! I didn't know there are so many kinds either...I have learned so much through photography! :) (Here's a search on my photos to see our wild honeysuckle...the top four pictures: www.ipernity.com/search/photo?w=290645&q=honeysuckle )

Thanks so much for your enthusiastic comments about my morning routine!! :) I really didn't know if people wanted to read about that, but gosh, apparently everyone is fascinated, yay! I will keep it up whenever I can!

Where is Steve during this maniacal rushing about? In bed of course! :D He sleeps another hour before he gets up, and it's a good thing. He's like a sloth in the morning to my Tasmanian Devil, and he hates how I zoom around, and I can't stand his dead grandpa routine, lol.

LOL, had to giggle at your wrinkled nose in response to my pepper flakes...lol...it's definitely an acquired taste, but I've been chomping on them now for over a year and well...I love them! :D

Have a lovely day my dear *hugs*

Jenny McIntyre replied to Janet Brien:

Well with the size of your property I would be surprised if you didn't have any honeysuckle on the land.

Steve sounds like me in morning's but he goes for walks with you, which is completely different from me! I can't go for walks anymore because of my balance problems. Have a great day too.
