Wow! I don’t even know where to begin with this. When I first saw it in thumbnail view, I thought it looked like a scene from a dark, gritty gangster movie. Then, when I looked closer and my gaze descended and took in the whole scene, I realised they were not sat around a table as I first thought, but were stood around a coffin (so beautifully and subtly understated). My attention flicks back and forth between the central figure - with his back to us, shoulders hunched, head bowed - and the older gentleman to his left, facing us, staring into the distance. Occasionally, I scan to his right, to the tall figure with his eyes downturned. And so it continues, back and forth, back and forth, relentlessly. A phenomenally powerful image. I can’t begin to know what your relationship is to these people.

Thank you, Bill, and everyone for your comments. To answer your question, I do know some of these people, but that is not important. If a picture works to explain man to man I click the shutter. At the time of this picture I had the iPod Touch. We were waiting for the priest, and everyone was looking around. So I raised my device to make this picture, and when the guys all saw me they looked down or whatever, and I clicked the shutter. I processed this to have a gritty cold look, and to blend the pixelation from the low light, and low ISO of the iTouch camera. Glad you like it.

This is an excellent idea to "advertise" one's own articles on a photo stream. On Ipernity news page the article section becomes easily unnoticed. But strong images do get the attention.

Thanks, Sami. I did this on Flickr and it worked well. The difference here is that it all stays here .. I like that.

A tip ;-)

In some cases you may wish to "bump up" some old images and/or articles by changing the upload date. That way old good stuff become seen as new by your contacts.

Frank J Casella replied to Sami Serola (inactiv…:

Yes, thank you for the tip. I have not thought of that. What I have done is update and article with a new title or use new editing technology on a formerly edited image ... starting again with the original of course.
