Catrigg Force

Catrigg Force is a lovely waterfall that is hidden away in a deep gorge above the village of Stainforth. The waterfall is set back in the trees but opens out beautifully as you enter the gorge. There are two main drops of twenty plus foot separated by a 60 foot copse; apparently the famous composer Elgar’s favourite spot. The falls do require a little effort to reach but the track is excellent.
