Skana: Orca, Killer Whale

Caption from the Vancouver Aquarium site says, "This incredible 5.5 meter (18 ft) tall bronze sculpture sits just outside of the Vancouver Aquarium and was created by Haida artist Bill Reid and donated by Jim and Isabel Graham in 1984. The plaque accompanying this statue reads, "Skana - The Killer Whale known by the Haida to be chief of the world beneath the sea who from his great house raised the storms of winter and brought calm to the seas of summer. He governed the mystical cycle of the salmon and was keeper of all the oceans living treasure."
