A perfectly composed image, Adele. I love the rowing boat and its reflection. The double summit of the volcano is very spectacular. I love the way the boulders divide the frame. I hope you have an excellent Sunday. Kindest regards, Joe

Very nicely composed and taken from a great perspective. The dinghy is well placed in the frame and is sharp and colourful. I like the line of rocks that cross the frame and Vesuvius makes a super backdrop..!!

Beautiful work Adele!

Le calme avant la tempête !

" Respicio ;densa caligo

Audimus ululatus feminarum, infantem
quiritatus, clamores virorum ; alii parentes alii
conjuges vocubus requirebant, vocibus
noscitaban."

Merci pour cette précieuse citation !
C’est le passage le plus dramatique, le moment avant la catastrophe…
Voici la traduction en anglais pour les amis de Ipernity:

This text is a powerful passage from Pliny the Younger, specifically from his famous letter to Tacitus describing the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

"I look back; a dense fog was looming over us, following us like a torrent. We had scarcely sat down when darkness fell. We heard the shrieks of women, the wailing of infants, and the shouts of men; some were calling for their parents, others for their spouses, recognizing them by their voices."
