D6700 was the very first English Electric Type 3 locomotive, later designated as a British Rail Class 37, and entered service in December 1960 as part of the British Rail modernisation plan.

Certainly going well at 65 years old!!
Over 300 of these were made as well as some similar looking express passenger locomotives (see below). So if you were here in the 80s, it is more than likely you saw quite a few!!!!
