There were a lot of people out, those on this side being safe, but not able to progress further up the valley, while those on the other were taking a 'more risky approach' to exploring the river!
(and some fell in!!)
I am so happy that you have enjoyed it.
There is a path on each side of the river, with a bridge further down, and some stepping stones a short distance behind me. The water was over the stepping stones, and (as you can see) over the path on the left. The path on the right side was just passable as far as the stepping stones, as demonstrated by the lady in red.
If it were dry, the route up the valley into the scenic bit is along the left side. I'll have to come back another day!
When I came here I did not know of the recent heavy rain. However, the path on my side is a proper tarmac route to some property, and under the inch or so of water (in places) was quite passable. The warden told me that a few people had fallen in the river from the path on the left...
Enough said!
Hi Peter,
A beautifully composed shot and I love the silvery effect on the water. April is a dodgy month and we often get too many of those heavy showers. It looks a fabulous place to walk, ideally in better weather.
Best wishes,
Rosa.
A beautiful capture, Peter; it must have been very rainy there as it has here where I live. All the brooks and streams are on the high side and when it rains, some of them flood.
Thank you so much for all your visits and great comments, I really appreciate it, Peter!
Hi Val ,
Thank you very much!
I'm pleased that you have enjoyed it!
You are right about the rain. At a guess, the river here is around 12 inches higher than normal, which over the width suggests a lot of water!!
ooooh look at that cloud, hope the folks that need to will get to higher ground. I Like this shot Peter !!! that lady in red is hightailing it out of there it seems:))) best regards, Sarah
Hi Sarah,
Your visit is much appreciated. Thank you!
I am so happy that you like the scene. In fact we were lucky, it didn't rain, and we were able to easily walk along the path to higher ground, and the car park..
As for the people on the left side... I can't answer for them!!
