Brusio Viaduct

The sole purpose of this viaduct is to gain height. Trains coming up the gradient from Italy go through the arch just behind the bench, veer right, then make a full 360 degrees circle to the left, to emerge somewhat higher than before!

Hi Erhard,

Thank you so much! It was definitely one of my 'must see' places on my trip, along with www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/46597158 Morteratsch Glacier. It was such a nice day too!!

Hi Nick,

I am so pleased that you have enjoyed it. Thank you! I took a few different pictures, from different angles, and picked this one because of the yellow flowers!

Superb!
I have skipped 5 days of members' photos. I am sorry to have missed many gems in that time but with pressure of work something had to give!

Peter_Private_Box replied to Steve D:

Hi Steve,

Your visit is much appreciated! Thank you!!
As the railways are unfenced, it is easy to walk into the middle of the circle, and take from any angle. Only problem is to wait an hour between trains!

Blue sky, a great viaduct, the red train , and snowy mountains... Also it is cleverly to include the branches to the composition!Everything is perfect!

Now that is an interesting viaduct and very colourful train. The viaduct reminds me of the spiralling tunnels in the Canadian Rockies. (I shall try to find and post mine here soon.)
Great weather for such shots too, fully taken advantage off. Well done.
