Shadow tree espalier

Notoriously difficult to train one of these up a wall!
The outer wall of the Palace of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

First catch the shadow, and twine at the ready, pull down the shadow branches until they're horizontal and tie them into vine eyes on the wall. There you go - that wasn't difficult was it? ;-)

Andy Rodker replied to Amelia:

I suppose it's OK if you've got the knack! I will give it a go next time but it will have to wait until I acquire another garden with a wall and that isn't looking likely any time soon! :o(
