Kjeason
After exploring the area of Voringsfossen and hiking the gorge we went to the town of Eidfjord and from there up into the mountains above the fjord where we did a short hike to a couple of mountain farms at a place called Kjeason. This was the view from the farms with the road we took visible on the far side of the fjord.
To get to Kjeason we went through the first of many tunnels (in Norway they go through the mountains rather than around them) and had an interesting experience. Almost through the tunnel we discovered that it was one-way and timed. We met a car coming the other way and just managed to squeeze by.
We had failed to understand the sign at the entrance to the tunnel which listed the times the tunnel was open each way. Our failure to understand was not a surprise since we did not know Norwegian, but it was a bit embarrassing nonetheless. We would go through many more tunnels but this was the only one-way tunnel.
