This is one of the many Indian Paintbrushes that grow in the American west, this one a very common species in our area and photographed along Chiwaukum Creek in the North Cascades.

I just LOVE these flowers!! They grow on our property and when I saw them for the first time I was so excited!! Such amazing flowers...and I have since found that a number of species grow on our property!

You are very fortunate, Janet. We live in town and the only flowers on our property are Petunias.
