This is one of the trails I hiked last week in the Leavenworth area of eastern Washington. The Chiwaukum Creek trail follows the creek of that name and the first part of the trail follows an old forest service road that is no longer open to vehicles as is obvious from this shot. The flowering tree in the foreground is the Big-leaf Maple, Acer macrophyllum, one of our native trees.
