Me and my Neo’s

An active member of the AlphaSmart Group on Flickr, I have wanted to take this picture for quite some time. Today the weather was perfect. The picture shows me sitting on my modest Yamaha Neo’s scooter, and taking important notes on my AlphaSmart Neo.

No need to stress that the picture is 100% staged.

I’m afraid it is. I haven’t managed yet to kick it off. The odometer has passed the 1000km now, and I’ll put the scooter in, this week, for its first service. Nothing is lost.

They say there is (but there could be a problem if your so-called CLA needs more room than an AlphaSmart Neo). You’ll have to wear a helmet, though, so don’t forget taking your helmet with you.

This is just an expression of uncertainty ... what else?

AlphaSmart is the maker of easy-to-use portable wordprocessors. They were originally intended for schools and Special Education, but have become increasingly popular among writers and journalists. The current models are Neo and Dana, the latter of which is Palm OS based and therefore more versatile, but sadly no longer for sale in Europe.
Neo has an excellent full-size keyboard and a small, but very clear screen, holds about 200 pages of text, and works ca. 700hrs on three AA batteries (compare that to the five hours, at the most, other, “real”, laptops will last...). Easy text transfer to most other computers via USB or infrared.

The Neo doesn’t do much, but what it does it does very well, and it got many people hooked. As I said above, I have long been involved in a “fan club” and “support site”, first a part of the AlphaSmart website, now an independent AlphaSmart Group on Flickr.
