New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve, the afternoon progressing.
Most shops are closing now. The last customers who still need the traditional fritters (oliebollen and appelflappen) are being served.
Then everybody will go home, and spend a long evening with family and friends.

I know what you mean: anyone who doesn’t have a big colorful flower against a B&W flowerbed in his portfolio hasn’t proven he can take pictures. ;-)
Not with me! I know I have sinned, but deep inside I’m a purist...

Like the Bavarians, the English have strong stomachs. I doubt if I could eat a single Yorkshire Pudding without ending up in the ER of the local hospital, and I also avoid these typically Dutch fritters if I can. I bought two for my mother, though (elsewhere).
By the end of the evening she complained that she hadn’t had “that New Year’s Eve” feeling, so perhaps I have failed: I should have taken the risk (the other mistake I made was toasting with Jägermeister instead of champagne).

Thanks, Sherry. I don’t have anything funny to say, but I don’t want to make the impression of ignoring you... ;-)
