Smoke

This is from many fires, but the largest (the "Carr fire") is about 140 mi. south of me. The Klamath Basin is downwind of most fires in the general region and the basin-like topography holds smoke for a long time. There has not been a genuine blue sky for about 10 days and the air quality is labeled "very unhealthy," with warnings about staying inside as much as possible. At the same time: high heat, drought, wind... ;-(

Hope it changes soon for you. We had this last summer and it is most unpleasant being outdoors.

Diane Putnam replied to Larry He's So Fine:

Yes, I remember that. No one is enjoying summer, which I'm sure you an identify with. So far, the fires just seem to get bigger.

Oh Diane how terrible & no windows open in this heat must be so unbearable......I whinged when someone has a Bonfire up in the fields near me, always in Summer so no doors or windows open, & that is bad enough .....but of course nothing compared to what you & millions of other people have to contend with. Hope it soon abates for you !!!

I have an air conditioner in a window, so that helps tremendously! But, yes, I would love to just open the windows for some fresh air. There is no sign that the fires will die out anytime soon. There are always new ones starting, anyway!

Well, I have to say it is getting very old. However, I'm afraid it's the new normal in our lives. ;-(
