HWW ~ Cathedral of Saint Mary of Girona

A visit to Girona in Spain would not be complete without visiting this wonderful Cathedral. Having been built and altered over a period spanning from the 11th to the 18th centuries, Girona Cathedral blends a variety of styles, including Romanesque, Baroque and, of course, Gothic. Unfortunately we did not go inside. The massive stone staircase leading up to the entrance consists of 91 steps.

Game of Thrones: This scene was used as the exterior for the Great Sept of Baelor in King's Landing when Jaime Lannister rides his white horse up the cathedral's grand Baroque staircase with Tyrell soldiers to stop Queen Margaery's walk of atonement and confront the High Sparrow. (The actual famous "Walk of Shame" scene with Cersei Lannister was filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia, not on these steps). (PiP2)

See PiP1 for top view.

HWW. Have a good day.
