A Western jackdaw (Coloeus monedula).
I don’t see many of these, much more common to me are the common crows or carrion crows. It is easily recognized by its dark grey-black plumage, contrasting silvery-grey nape (or "half hood"), and striking pale eyes. The Jackdaw's call – a familiar hard 'tchack' – gives it its name. It will often nest in chimneys, buildings, rock crevices and tree holes and is seen regularly on post. PiPs
