The beautiful Chirk Castle formal gardens

This castle looks good from afar, perched on a nice hill with fine grounds of lawns, meadows and woodland. Here we see a glimpse of the 5.5 acre gardens that sit behind the castle. The Pip (previous photo) being from the same spot in the opposite direction looking at the hawk house. Described as being a garden for all seasons, my photos attracts a vote for Springtime.

The formal gardens include, a topiary, rose garden, statues, a main avenue, Hawk house, a Ha Ha, Pleasure ground wood, shrub garden, pond and stumpery. Phew!

I had to ask Mr Google was a Ha Ha was.........I've seen the structures before, but I had no idea what they were called ;-)

Thanks for this Keith. Yes HaHa's have been around for a good while being fashionable in the 18thC I believe. This castle had a great deal to offer, especially on a day like this, weatherwise.

That is where the likes of Ipernity comes in Peter with the the date taken displayed as well. Not quite as impressive in the middle of a very wet cold day in Winter when the house is closed too I expect.
