A visit to Dovestones.

Yet another visit to my local reservoir chain and this time we have quite a different view of the reservoir showing that the water level is still low even after some weeks of torrential rain. This little valley is called Dove Stone Clough and is in fact the course for a number of weirs bringing water to the reservoir from the higher Chew reservoir - pip. See last photo for alternative view from here.

Enjoy full screen.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

A little side valley that I have explore only one or twice, and one of those walking up ice. Quite an adventurous little clough for sure. You are right, we will have to get together again for another explore. At the moment much of the paths from Dovestones are curtailed for partridge shooting and a major repair to the Chew reservoir.

Herb Riddle replied to David G Johnson:

It was a bit of an uphill exercise to test both Eileen's and my heart but we passed with flying colours. Well worth it for the different views and photos. Glad you liked em.

Here the watercourse leads the eye nicely into the photo, very well composed.! I hope the reservoir will fill up a bit more...

Herb Riddle replied to Gudrun:

Yes, it was for this reason I chose this as the main one of the two here. Reservoir water lever - I think it will do but it has some way to go yet.

Absolutely stunning Herb. The landscape looks amazing and it's good to see the water flowing (even if more rain is still needed)!

I love the rolling hills in the background and the autumnal colours in the foreground. Splendid work sir! ⭐️

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Great that you liked this enough for a golden star my friend. Yes, there seemed to be a lot of water coming from above but quite a bit more is needed, The central Yeoman Hey reservoir seemed almost full but we could not get to the last seen empty Greenfield reservoir to see if that had filled. It looks like Autumn is on its way, for sure.
