At rest at Potter Heigham

We are here in the village of Potter Heigham on the Norfolk Broads. It is the home of many cruiser hire companies and has a fair number of holiday homes too. It is perhaps most famous for its medieval bridge (dating from ~1385) which is quite low & difficult for boats to navigate. We take a walk up the River Thurne from here. See PiP for view from your boat. (adjacent photo)

Enjoy the day

It must be very pleasant to sit here on the bench and watch the boats go by... HBM Herb.

Herb Riddle replied to Christa1004:

Indeed it was Christa. Not that we actually sat there! Cruise boats ply up and down here all the time but most, from both side, simply get to the bridge and turn around so do not go through.

HBM, enjoy the rest of the week. Herb

Herb Riddle replied to Gudrun:

Yes a fine old bridge here and the setting gives the visitors a great place to relax. Cruise boats ply up and down here all the time but most, from both side, simply get to the bridge and turn around so do not go through.

HBM, enjoy the rest of the week. Herb

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Hi Gordon, if my old friend manage to chop off the top of his boat and I heard at least one other example in my sailing days too, it makes you wonder how many boats in all were damaged here, similar to busses going under low railway bridges I suspect.

HBM, enjoy the rest of the week. Herb.

Hi Herb
A wonderful and interesting couple of pictures, which I like very much!
Very nice composition. I am guessing that you took a boat for a cruise somewhere. Hope you didn't hit the bridge with it. Not an area I know, but I do wonder f you visited Nork Norfolk Railway?
Best Wishes, Happy Monday, a nice week ahead, and stay safe!!
