NC500 GT. - 57 – John o' Groats

As we enjoy the remoteness of this spot we are joined by a group of cyclist. I suspect that this scene is mirrored many times each week up here as the end point of such charity find-raising events.

John o' Groats is a village 2.5 mi north-east of Canisbay, in the historic county of Caithness, Scotland. It lies on Scotland's north-eastern tip and is popular with tourists, as the most distant point on the mainland from Land's End in Cornwall, England, 876 mi to the south-west. Wikipedia

The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems.

A familiar scene from an iconic location Herb,
A very nice opportunist capture in rather nice weather

Thank you for posting in the "North West 500" Group

Herb Riddle replied to Roger (Grisly):

Yes the weather was good for us on that day. It was good too to see such a group at the signpost. A sight that I see quite often on our TV screen. Glad you enjoyed it.

My pleasure to post in the group. Herb

It is quite an achievement for the cyclists and they were probably more than happy to have you take photos to record the moment! Our son in law is planning to do this, but wit John O Groats as the starting point,

Well captured Herb

Herb Riddle replied to Ecobird:

Yes, quite a ride from the other corner of Britain to here. I seem to remember that there was another of their group who took the official snaps. I wish your son-in-law success in doing this the other way around but it will be easier -as it is all downhill of course (˚◡˚) .

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

An unusual one for me Keith. The first I believe with a sporting connection on here although I have taken photos of racing cars and cyclist in the distant past. Glad you liked another summer photo.
