Caisteal Maol

This was seen from the harbour of Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. The seagull was a late arrival :) See PiP for harbour scene.

The castle, an ancient seat of Clan Mackinnon, was a fortress commanding the strait of Kyle Akin between Skye and the mainland, through which all ships had to pass or else attempt the stormy passage of the Minch. The present building dates back to the 15th century, but is traditionally reputed to be of much earlier origin. WiKi

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

No we did not get any closer as it came on to rain hard just after clicking this. No doubt I missed some nice views. I think in practice it would have been a bit of a hike. Glad you liked it. I will map here now.

Herb Riddle replied to Steve Paxton:

Funny enough I thought at first the blurred seagull was intruding but the blur gives it movement. Glad you liked it Steve.

A fantastic captute of these castle ruins and surroundings Herb............the light is lovely and I like the colours in the (typically Scottish) landscape. I like the in-flight bird in the shot as well. Beautifully composed and taken sir!

A nice view of the harbour in your PiP as well.

Like you I managed a shot of the castle just before it rained. It's in the link if you fancy a look: www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/31008399
