The Erris Head Loop walk: Pigeon Rock

Having turned the northern corner we are greeted by wild rocky Islands. This is Pigeon Rock. We never saw any pigeons though. This as can be seen is the Atlantic Ocean and in fact the whole coastline is called ‘The Wild Atlantic Way’.
A bit of a dangerous footing here with strong winds and high cliffs – only for sure-footed walkers and photographers! The hardy flowering plants here are most likely to be Sea thrift.

Enjoy full screen.

Oooh, this is just fantastic Herb! Beautifully exposed with the thrift flowers and a nice sturdy lump of rock in the foreground to anchor the shot. The wave action against and around the rocks is nicely captured and very dramatic!

Have a good week!

I felt really good and somewhat exciting to be there Keith. Glad I made this capture look something like it was.

The sea thrift certainly reminds of Cornwall (and a very similar relative also flowers in La Sierra de La Cabrera), so I would feel right at home here, Herb, especially with the cliffs and sea! A very fine shot!
