Dolphin Head Nebula SH2-308

Known as Shapeless SH 2-308 As this is my last image for the year Happy New Year to all on Ipernity.

This is an area very strong in Oxygen (blue) the visible gasses blown about. This is 28hours of data capture of Ha and Oiii and combined as HaOiiiOiii to get the object above. As its getting consistently warmer its harder to work with -10c as I started this so I will end and start on summer -0c.

The filters bring out the very faint red found in the background the the colour camera does not see nor the faint blue wisps next to the head. Enjoy one of the Marvels of space.

I can see why this is named so Steve. As per usual, quite an amazing capture from you saying as much about your technical prowess as your optics. I can imagine the temp going up on the optics etc in this camera would be a problem for this kind of photography.

A belated New Year's Wish for you here Steve. Carry on pleasing us with such images in 2026.

Steve Paxton replied to Herb Riddle:

Thank you Herb One of the ones I was keen to come back to with Filters and the result only proved I was right there is more here than you see with a colour camera. Camera has a range of 35c that is can drop the temperature so 25c ambient I can use -10c but 35c I can only use 0c. So it being care full with Camera.

I know what you mean with the great grand children the days blurred. Hope you had a good new year and the rest of the year.
