Its all a matter of taste Steve. Would have been easier to say if these picture were taken at the same shoot and the same focal length but they clearly are not. I like them both in their own ways but in the end the truer dark sky of 2020 wins out. After all if you were out in the space station looking towards the Milky-Way you would not see the obvious light pollution of your city or earths skies? - Nice conundrum!
The interesting thing is they are the exact same 14mm and same camera just set up differently. to be honest I did not even know how to stitch a night photo but could do day shot easily so never thought to add the second shot on top or how.
2014 shows my early start and shot times 31.5 sec stars trail but 2020 20sec pin points you see all that time spent in learning. its true you never stop learning. Many thanks for your thoughts.
as Herb says, it's a matter of taste and also how did you see it when you were out there. Aside the WB I like the lower picture better because of the softer foreground. The artificial lighting in the top one disturbs me
I have to agree Andy was so bright kind of what made the idea of Low Level Lighting came into being.
Its hard to bring to life a night out to those who have never been there thinking they will see it just like day light as we both know thats just not the case.
I love your pictures of the night sky. Here in the region around Frankfurt Airport we can never see stars, the lighting of the airport is too bright.
We admired the sky in Australia, we often stayed in the outback with the motorhome, it was wonderful.
I do feel sorry for the greater Europe having been there far too much light for any stars to be seen this I know myself. I do think that it should never be this way but there are far to many people in such a small area in contrast to Australia too few people to the area of the land mass. I have to take that privilege as not a right but a blessing and share more with the world than I do.
while I wait for the boundaries to open up for me and 7 days no covid19 infections we know its all going the right way slowly we will get back to what looks like a normal life.
