Die kalte Jahreszeit ist der auslösende Reiz dafür, dass der Austernpilz (Pleurotus ostreatus) Fruchtkörper bildet. Durch Züchtung des Pilzes hat man die Notwendigkeit des Kältereizes entfernen können, so dass Austernseitlinge in Pilzfarmen das ganze Jahr über angeboten werden. Eine Besonderheit der Austernpilze ist, dass ihre Pilzhyphen Fadenwürmer verdauen können (s. Wikipedia-Artikel).

The cold season is the trigger for the Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) to form fruiting bodies. By cultivating the mushroom, it has been possible to remove the need for the cold stimulus, so that oyster mushrooms are available in mushroom farms all year round. A special feature of oyster mushrooms is that their mushroom hyphae can digest nematodes (see Wikipedia article).
