Lighthouse at Newhaven, with Inchkeith Island a mile in the distance.

Inchkeith Island has a most interesting history. Worth watching on You Tube. The deserted forts and buildings can be seen in the distance . The second video is shorter.

A smashing shot of this lovely old lighthouse Amelia............and the view across the sea to Inchkeith Island is beautiful. The bright red of the exterior of the light stands out perfectly!

Two fascinating videos which I've just watched.........I'd heard of the island, but had no idea of it's military background, nor of the other, darker things that happened there!

A dinky lighthouse and a dark history to the island in the background, Yes the first video is full of information setting out its grim history, where as the second video provides some detail but misses some important details completely. ~ Thanks dear LGM

A classic lighthouse, I always like these! Did you use the new tram line to go there?

Amelia replied to Gudrun:

No, we walked from our daughters home in Trinity down to Newhaven harbour, and then around the coast. The last part of the walk has only been completed fairly recently, and the little lighthouse cannot be approached from there. With all the future planning going on, the view of the lighthouse might become obliterated. I haven't been on the trams at Leith yet. ;-)

Gudrun replied to Amelia:

A pity if that view would be obliterated! But planning and what is being built in the end often is not the same thing;-)
