Today's Saturday Self Challenge is: Broken.

The photo on the left is the broken and bent end of the hour hand on our grandfather clock shown on the right. It is beyond repair and will require a specialist to make a new end for the pointer. Luckily the time is still readable.

As long as it still runs such imperfections only add to the charm!

I hope it's not Dundee that is broken, Amelia. All the best, Joe

Amelia replied to Joe, Son of the Rock:

Dundee is fine, Joe, at least I hope so. :-))
This grandfather clock was given by my father to my mother on their engagement in 1922. He was a watchmaker and a fine instrument maker and would have repaired this breakage no problem.

Still plenty of craftsmen/women who would restore this back to new Amelia. You often see clocks repaired and restored on the TV program "The repair Shop" and is amazing the variety of items they can fix.

Amelia replied to HappySnapper:

I love watching The Repair Shop. I'm sure that Steve Fletcher would be an excellent choice for repairs. I might get in touch. :-)

Unfortunately, such things happen often. The fragility of some objects and the time do not help ! Beautiful souvenir, Amelia !

Such a shame................but I guess it will be fixable.........at a price of course :-)

I love the detail in the right hand image.............especially the crazing on the face.
