Dear members and friends of ipernity,
1) Server overload update.
Access to our website is somewhat improved from the days of unhelpful error messages, but as our servers are still overloaded by bots the team continues to work on finding a solution to the delayed loading of pages.
What the team has done:
1) See the previously published article.
2) A new firewall has been installed and with a few updates to the settings, error messages no longer appear and so there has been a lessening of the irritation the bots are having on our member's experience.
At varying times of day access can be very slow. Pages that are not loaded immediately will eventually load if left alone. Sometimes this can be mitigated by using the 'Refresh' or 'Reload' option in your browser, maybe after waiting 5-10 seconds.
Steps the team is working on now:
1) The team has an outside volunteer that may be able to help. An on-line meeting with them is in the process of being set up. (Thanks to Eric Desjours for reaching out to their connections.)
2) We continue to explore creating restrictions that will keep the bots from accessing our website. These come at a balance between our member's access, visiting potential members, and bots. Changes that could effect how members can use and experience ipernity would be carefully considered before implementing. For now the feasibility and programming possibilities are in the investigation phase.
If you want to help search for outside help, please contact the team for our detailed write up on our situation. This write up can be shared with anyone or any company you know.
2) Change to the Explore menu.
As many may have already noticed, the Explore drop-down menu has been updated. With the addition of three sub-menus, the initial list of options is now shorter and easier to read. This also allowed the inclusion of the newest option, 'Real world meetings' without extending the menu had this been added to the old version.
3) World Photography Day.

Next month, August 19th, our club will celebrate our favorite hobby for the fifth year in a row.
Look out for the 2025 article about this year's event coming in the next couple of weeks (around July 19th). If you have any suggestions for this year, please reach out to raingirl.
Your ima team.

I did renew my membership for another year, hopefully the AI / crawler bots will "learn" to stop bothering the site - or the firewalls will keep out enough to prevent the servers overloading.
