Being a Panoranio expat and having explored Ipernity now for about two weeks I like it better here every day. A well organized GUI and a multitude of functions I have not known in the other world are making the live easy here. In addition many functions can be customized by the user, albums can be organized in folders (a function I find very useful, not only for my own photos but also when browsing other member's galleries) and other nice features. Everything seems to be stable and working without major problems although I haven't understood some functionalities such as some details regarding customizing my start page. May be that will come with time.

However, what I'm missing badly is a steady comment stream as I know it from Panoramio. The comment stream is the anchor of all communications between members in Panoramio, because I see all comments to photos I have ever posted or commented myself at one glance and sorted by visible timestamp. I believe that most - if not all - of the information is contained in the Chronology stream under News here as well, however comments are linked in separate streams to the photos and not to a general timeline. That means I have to browse all pages on the chronology page to find comments I may want to answer. I find this rather clumsy. Once I know my way around here I will probably make the team happy with a change- or better augmentation proposal. If I try I may lose, if i don't try I have lost already ;-)

Nach etwa zwei Wochen hier bei Ipernity und als Panoramio Flüchtling gefällt es mir hier täglich besser. Eine gut organisierte Benutzeroberfläche und eine Vielzahl von Funktionen, die ich in der anderen Welt nicht kannte, machen das Leben hier leicht. Zusätzlich sind viele Funktionen vom Nutzer anpassbar, Alben können in Ordnern gesammelt werden (eine Funktion, die ich sehr nützlich finde, nicht nur für meine eigenen Fotos sondern auch beim "erforschen" anderer Galierien) und andere nützliche Features. Alles erscheint stabil und funktioniert ohne erkennbare Probleme, wenngleich ich einige Funktionen wie z.B. einige Details zur Anpassung meiner Startseite noch nicht voll verstanden habe. Aber das kommt wohl auch noch.

Was ich allerdings schmerzlich vermisse ist der Comment Stream wie ich ihn von Panoramio kenne. Der Comment Stream ist dort der Anker aller Kommunikation der Mitglieder untereinander. Ich sehe alle Kommnetare zu Fotos, die ich selbst jemals eingestellt oder kommentiert habe auf einen Blick und nach Zeit sortiert. Ich glaube, dass die meisten - wenn nicht alle - dieser Informationen bereits in "Ihre Chronologie" unter "Neuigkeiten" enthalten sind, allerdings sind diese Kommentare in separaten Streams an die Bilder gekoppelt und nicht an die generelle Zeitlinie. Das bedeutet, dass ich alle Seiten der Chronologie durchsehen muss, um alle Kommentare zu finden, die ich vielleicht beantworten möchte. Ich finde das ziemlich umständlich. Wenn ich mich hier besser zurecht finde, werde ich wohl das Team mit einem Änderungs- oder besser Ergänzungsantrag beglücken. Wenn ich das versuche, kann ich verlieren, wenn nicht habe ich schon verloren ;-)
