".... Many people from ipernity seem to be heading to 23hq.com. I have had a look at it as an 'outsider' and clicked on a photo I recognised from ipernity (not saying whose). Up popped the photo - then I right clicked and hit "save". Next I went to my image editing software and clicked "new image from clipboard". Up popped the image - so it seems that your photos on this site may not be secure from copying. I'm not going there!...."

I tried 23hq 2 days ago... and not impressed....the "team" there may be friendly.. but they have done nothing since 2006.... that tells me alot.,. they wont cope.. not now immediately at least.. and now is when matters... I will let my new acc there sit.. but wont use it.

The limit of 30 pics a month(after you initial big upload) is ok ... but after that you pay.. again ok... but to not have improved the site for 8 years?? No.. that isnt ok. The coding is ancient for the site (I am used to that on a dog/cat site I have been on for 9 years) and it leaves me to think they just really forgot about it.

SmugMug gives 14 day free trial.... then basic is $60 a year.... it has no groups.. but has a good reputation if you just want to share photos with folk.

Frankly the choices are then limited.

I am now fumbling around flickr... decided that cutting my nose off to spite my face wasnt really very adult. Its hard having to start all over again... I cant face uploading all my pics... but we shall live through it.

I joined 23hq also as my third home in as many months and found it not unlike ipernity in some ways to use but also wonder if it will cope with the sudden large influx of people who will soon decend ? ... watch this space .....

and YES the captcha on 23 is a pain every time you make a comment

I did the poll - thanks autofantasia.

I am now looking at 23HQ, while continuing here as there is some small hope. 500px seems good for the photos themselves, but not so much for the community aspect. Fotoblur uploaded a photo of mine sideways - I couldn't bother to spend the time to fix it, didn't really see how as their in software editing didn't have a turn function. I do think 23HQ is the best alternative if necessary.

Team Ipernity have just published an article entitled The First Results for the Survey, which I'm guessing many of you will want to read!

Please note that this refers to the poll by the IMA and not the unofficial one that I was working on at the end of last year! :)
