My week off has been a busy one. Monday, as mentioned before, I picked up an extra shift.
Tuesday was so hot that I barely did anything beyond laundry.
Wednesday, I painted the kitchen. It has a lower ceiling than most of the house and wasnt too arduous. I didn't spend much on paint as it's not our house though after 4 years, the kitchen was looking 'tired.' I used a magnolia colour so it matches what it was before, just looks nicer now. I also removed some decor left by the previous owner. I wasn't able to remove this until I'd decided to paint as I had no idea of the state of the wall underneath.
Thursday, I finished off the kitchen and painted the one wall in the dining room. This has 'suffered' from mould so I've had to clean all that, let it dry, then paint it. I have a 'thing' in that room now that is supposed to help reduce damp. This room never has the sun on it; north-facing, and isn't used much except for meal times. Anyway, I'm going up and down the 3-step stool with paint, thinking: I'm getting too old for this! My knee was complaining, my back was aching, and I had a terrible night. We also did something that goes against everything I believe in - we threw away a half bottle of wine! LMAO. We'd opened it Sunday and had a glass each. Monday and Tuesday were too hot for red wine with dinner, Wednesday we had a chilled drink, and by Thursday, coupled with the heat no doubt, the wine tasted worse than vinegar. I hate waste, especially alcohol...
Friday I did the big shop, cleaned the bathroom, my bedroom, then chilled.
Saturday, my son moved all his bedroom furniture and I vacuumed his entire room, and dusted it. Later I made lamb kebabs. We don't eat lamb as a rule, though these were very nice served in soft pitta breads with salad, and we have enough leftovers in the freezer for another meal. Excellent!
Sunday I'm set to do a top-up shop in a bigger branch of my store, I can't do it all in one go. I'll then check out a different supermarket that's had a major face-lift in recent months. I may treat myself to a coffee out. My plan is then to rest up, and relax, prior to going back to work on Wednesday.
The weather has been a real bugbear; Monday and Tuesday were very hot and only good IMO for drying laundry. Since then it's been wall to wall gloom, grey clouds, and the odd shower. Great for bringing the temperature down, but I'm having to finish laundry off in the tumble dryer. In late July! I don't want another heatwave, though I do hope we have some sunshine again very soon.
Have a great week ahead.

That all sounds exhausting !
Tuesday was exceptionally hot up here in Northumberland. Sadly I had to work [someone visited the workshop] for a good part of the afternoon and in the morning before that I had been in Newcastle for an appointment [hospital check-up - nothing serious but I've a lovely bruise from having blood taken]. I did manage to sit out in the garden for a while in the late afternoon, evening.
I have a short "platform" as well as a two step "height adjuster" for when I'm painting - and I have quite a good reach. It's been far too hot for good quality gloss work !
Wednesday I cut all the grass to tidy-up after our little sojourn in Norwich ...
After that the weather has closed down, being much colder. We have even had quite a bit of rain, mostly as showers, some very heavy. So the grass will be growing, again.
For the past few days, I've been adding "holiday" images [we went to Brancaster Staithe ! but well before the fire] as well as starting to do some work admin so starting at 'puter a lot more than usual ... LoL
We have our regular weekend food delivery this afternoon [keeping up with the new world order] and I need to go to the garden centre, mainly the guy with a very good fruit & veg stall, but also to have a look around.
Keep Safe

I've never had food delivered, it always looks like such a drag to go through it all on the PC. Besides, I like to see what I'm buying, and keep a lookout for short-dated bargains.
I like garden centres too. We have one close-by though last time I visited it wasn't very good. We have a huge one a little farther away, though the downside of that one is it's also a tourist destination and a tad pricey because of that. No fruit and veg stall I'm afraid, not even in our local town due to the proximity of so many supermarkets I guess.

I have to have my shopping delivered as I'm housebound and I honestly can't really remember the last time I went actual shopping (over 3 years ago!!!). I do realise that I miss out on short dated bargains, but I don't have to pay for driving up there - nor for road tax/insurance etc, so maybe I come out evens. I would like to visit the different stores though - to see what they're selling, especially Aldi and Lidl, now we've got the stores in the town, yet I've never been to them.
Enjoy the rest of your break, it's cooler now with the odd spits of rain. Take care of yourself.

I did a few weeks shopping by order when Rick and I were sick. Not a big fan as I like to also see for myself, but its a convenience when you can't get out.
Stop working so hard. You make me feel guilty, lol!

Jenny - I visit those 2 stores periodically, and found that during the pandemic in particular, that they were always very well stocked. They often have similar goods as the big 4 at lower prices so can be good for a bargain. Maybe someone could take you out one day for a short trip?
Gracie - I like to keep busy. If I just sit there' I get bored lol. I have rested too, and have had some nice lie-ins as well which is always a bonus. Even getting up at 6am is a lie-in compared to 4.30am. The rooms look and smell so much nicer now. I won't do any more painting for about 2 months now, and may paint the downstairs loo in my next week off - small room, normal height ceiling. It's a pale blue and feels very cold in there, I want to lighten it.
