Wandering Free

Quantock ponies at Dead Womans Ditch on the Quantock Hills. The ponies roam freely but are rounded up for health checks etc periodically. They are beautiful animals but you do have to remember they are basically wild animals. Visitors have been feeding them sweet treats but the horses have become aggressive in their hunt for sugar and have been known to bite people.

I have added a song by Dion called 'The Wanderer'

Ecobird replied to Jeff Farley:

Thank you very much Jeff. I was surprised at the number of ponies up there. A number seemed to be seeking shelter under the shade of the trees.

Absolument magnifique et bien rendue. Voir Des Poneys en pleine liberté est fabuleux.
Un beau partage bien accompagné musicalement.
Bonne et agréable semaine.

Thank you very much Malik. They really are beautiful animals and there were a lot of them up there, mostly in the shade of the trees.

Ecobird replied to Jaap van 't Veen:

Thank you very much Jaap. They are beautiful animals. I must admit to getting a little worried when one kept coming towards us. I beat a hasty retreat!

A lovely capture and nice looking ponies but food is I suspect the only reason they loiter in the car park area.

Ecobird replied to Roger (Grisly):

Thank you very much Roger. Food mainly I think but it was hot and they seemed to be enjoying the shade of the trees. I did back off a bit when one of the bigger horses appeared to be heading straight for me!
